ABOUT

JO
HODGKINSON

I am a Level 4 qualified Sports Massage Therapist which allows me to provide effective treatments for clients with all manner of dysfunctions and injuries. Despite having acquired a wealth of knowledge which I am continuously building on, I will only treat clients that I think will truly benefit and I will refer to other practitioners when required.

My previous career paths include a variety of roles within different industries and therefore I have a broad understanding of the potential problems, aches and pains associated with both sedentary and more physically demanding occupations. In 2018 I qualified as a personal trainer which gave me a sound basis of anatomical and biomechanical knowledge which I have built on whilst studying for my Level 3 and 4 massage qualifications last year.

After having spent a decade competitively boxing and kickboxing, I have incurred numerous injuries including periostitis (shin splints), a bicep tear, and lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) to name but a few. Due to my active lifestyle and love for outdoor sports I’ve also had a strained rotator cuff, damaged ATFL in both ankles, and broken my wrist. Sports massage enabled me to continue competing by increasing the speed of recovery, increasing strength of supporting muscles with resistance and balance exercises, and improving muscle flexibility with stretching.

I have decided to pursue a career in this field because I have a passion for helping others, I find it both challenging and fascinating, and I am constantly learning more about the human body which quenches my thirst for knowledge. I can honestly say that when I go to massage my clients it really doesn’t feel like work and there’s not many careers that allow you to make a real difference to the quality of others lives.
My main goal for treatment is for my clients to reach a point where they no longer need me, where they feel equipped with the right tools to maintain functioning, healthy bodies in the future.
